Bebbington Wilson

Vehicle tracking from eSAY has helped electrical contractors Bebbington & Wilson to run a safer and more efficient business.

The North Wales company, which employs 25 people, invested in the system a year ago and now has tracking devices installed in 12 vehicles.

Managing Director Ray Wilson says the system pays for itself by helping him to monitor vehicle usage more closely and make sure he’s getting the most out of his fleet – and his employees.

One of the major benefits for Ray has been linking the vehicle tracking to the payment of travelling time expenses for his employees.

This payment is made if employees arrive and leave the site of a job on time – but until the tracking system was installed, there was no hard evidence to back up a claim.  Now, using GPS positioning, the system automatically notes arrival times on and off site before payments are authorised.

Using daily reports filed directly to his computer, Ray can also monitor driving behaviour and patterns – enabling him to ensure safe driving practices and to deal with any vehicle misuse.

He said: “While there has been very little misuse of company vehicles, there have been one or two occasions where I have had to take action.  For example, one vehicle was regularly being driven outside office hours and another was identified speeding on a motorway.

“Without the tracking system, I would have had no idea this was going on.”

The system has also helped Ray to provide a better service to customers – for example, enabling him to instantly identify the closest vehicle to respond to an urgent job.

It has also cut his vehicle insurance bills and provides the added security of knowing that a stolen vehicle can be quickly recovered.

He said: “I am delighted with the system.  At £1 per vehicle per day, it’s very affordable and I would say that it pays for itself in terms of the benefits delivered.”
